Ibiza Hikes Station Celebrates a Hike and Mountain Clean-Up for IFCC on Sunday, 10th December
Those interested in participating in this route, which will start from the dirt parking area of Santa Agnès, must have experience in “long-distance hiking” and “good physical fitness”
Ibiza Hikes Station celebrates on Sunday, 10th December, “Hike to Clean & Help IFCC”, a charity hike in support of the Association Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer (IFCC), with the aim of “supporting the work of this local NGO, which seeks to improve the quality of life of cancer patients in the Pityusic Islands,” explained the founder of Ibiza Hikes Station, Manuel Ehrensperger. The hike will start at 10:00 hours from the dirt parking area of Santa Agnès de Corona. The initiative’s goal is also to “clean one of the most unknown and hard-to-reach mountain areas of the island,” hence the organizers emphasize the need for participants to have “experience in long hikes“, as well as “good physical fitness” and be “capable of walking, at least for an hour, with a full bag of rubbish.” The Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Hall will collaborate by providing bags and gloves and removing the rubbish through the municipal waste collection service. The hike, of high difficulty and lasting the entire morning, will also feature the participation of the Councillor for Environment, Beaches, Cleaning and Animal Welfare of Sant Antoni de Portmany, Pepita Torres. Those interested in collaborating in this initiative can do so by calling 648 182 989 and making a donation starting from 10 euros.
Ibiza Hikes Station recommends bringing good sports footwear, sun protection, rain protection, water, and some snacks or fruit. Pets and children’s attendance are not allowed. “With this hike, we want to promote a healthy lifestyle, discover new enclaves of the island of Ibiza and clean some of the hard-to-reach coastal areas,” Manuel Ehrensperger clarified, who added that he created Ibiza Hikes Station “as a therapy to combat stress and a sedentary lifestyle.” “Good habits, exercise, and proper nutrition are necessary to combat any disease,” he emphasized.
Association Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer
The Association Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer, IFCC, has been supporting cancer patients in Ibiza and Formentera for 22 years by funding treatments, medical supplies, or informational brochures for cancer prevention. In the last decade, it has donated a total of 26 state-of-the-art reclining chairs for the oncology patients of Can Misses Hospital, along with five televisions with built-in headphones for the chemotherapy room, and has funded the launch of the first colon and breast cancer screening project in the Pityusic Islands. IFCC has also funded, thanks to donations from its numerous members and the charity events it organizes, the decoration of the oncology nursing consultation and the Palliative Care Unit consultation, the acquisition of an endoscope for the Formentera Hospital, as well as several cars for this Palliative Care Unit. This NGO has also published informational brochures for the Oncology Day Hospital, with recommendations for patients undergoing chemotherapy, breast surgery, and ostomy treatments.
